A delegation of the CICA Secretariat headed by the Executive Director Mr. H.Mirzozoda participated in the International Tourism Forum and Exhibition "Tajikistan-2019", held on August 8-10, 2019 in Dushanbe, organized by the Committee on tourism under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the support of the CICA and SCO.
At the opening ceremony Executive Director Mr. H.Mirzozoda delivered the keynote address highlighting the potential of the tourism growth in the CICA region and possible multiplier effect on the social and economic development of countries.
During the Forum four panel discussion sessions were conducted on the topics: "Attracting investments for tourism infrastructure, rural development for tourism and priority projects", "Ecotourism, Trekking and Cultural and Historical Tourism", "Medical, Rehabilitation and Recreational Tourism", "Folk Crafts Development and its Economic Benefits".
Tajik side demonstrated its tourism potential to the participants of the event, by organizing visits to cities of Hisor and Tursunzoda, Nurek and the nearby Nurek hydro-electric plant, Varzob gorge, as well as the Palace "Kohi Navruz" in Dushanbe.
Within the framework of the forum, a business dialogue in B2B format was conducted and more than 40 agreements on cooperation in the tourism sector were signed, and a final Declaration was also adopted.
