On 3 July 2019, at the invitation of Tajik Chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation and with Chairman’s permission, CICA Secretariat’s delegation headed by Executive Director Mr. Habibullo Mirzozoda participated in Security Dialogue as keynote speakers, held in Vienna. The dialogue was dedicated to the importance of confidence and security building measures in Central Asia and the role of CICA in regional security system. It was the first time that Secretariat was invited to participate in Security Dialogue organized by the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation.
Mr. Mirzozoda delivered his statement focusing on the main outcomes of the Fifth CICA Summit, mentioning the vision of CICA leaders to promote peace, security and cooperation in the CICA region including Central Asia. A comprehensive presentation was also made by the delegation mentioning the areas of cooperation and implementation of various Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) within the CICA region. Presentation also emphasized on the importance of CBMs in the region and how CICA can play an important role in regional security system.
During the discussion, many OSCE participating states including Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan noted the important role of CICA in the region. They also noted that CICA and the OSCE share similar values and objectives.
